Our Parenting Education Program provides classes, workshops, and resources for parents and other caregivers who are preparing to raise young children. Our services focus on the health and safety of infants and children, in addition to maternal health issues, so that the entire family can thrive. Childbirth Education Classes - This series of classes helps families prepare for the third trimester of pregnancy, labor and delivery of their baby, and postpartum life. Participants meet for class one evening a week for five weeks. These classes are not free; however, Medicaid will cover the cost of the series for the mother-to-be and her support person. For participants without Medicaid, the cost of the series is $55.00, and scholarship applications are available upon request. Prenatal Parenting Classes - This series of classes is designed especially for soon-to-be parents but is also relevant for any family with a baby under one year old. Participants meet for class once a week for six weeks to learn skills to help them raise a healthy, thriving baby. Topics include basic infant care, breastfeeding, nutrition, immunizations, birth control after baby, and more. These classes are free and open to the community. Baby Safety Classes - Offered by our Cribs for Kids Coordinator and Child Passenger Safety Technicians, this class teaches participants how to keep their babies safe during sleep and while riding in the car. Participants learn how to create a safe sleep environment and reduce their babies’ risk of SIDS, as well as how to select and install the correct car seats for their children. The Baby Safety Class is free and open to the community. This class is available in English and in Spanish. Please call (336) 703-3194 for more information.

Vroom – Vroom offers FREE parenting tips based on the latest research in early learning and child development. Caregivers can access information online or sign up to receive text messages that will guide them on incorporating “brain building” activities into their daily interactions with their children.
