On July 4, 2026, Detention Officer Ferere was assigned to 6 North for C-Team. At approximately 1640 hours Detention Officer Ferere was conducting a security tour in 6A housing unit. Once Detention Officer observed cell 6A-14, he saw an inmate lying on the floor beside the stool that is attached to the inmate desk. Detention Officer Ferere obtained a closer view and saw a county issued sheet tied around the inmate’s neck. Detention Officer Ferere immediately opened the cell door, entered the cell, and used county issued scissors to cut the sheet from around the inmate’s neck. Detention Officer Ferere called Code Orange (Suicide Attempt), via the radio. The Special Response Team and Medical units responded quickly and were able to preserve the inmate’s life. Due to Detention Officers Ferere’s due diligence and attention to detail, the inmate’s life was saved.
